Madness - Friday 8th August

Madness return to the July Course on Friday 8th August, where they are fully expected to repeat their phenomenal sell-out performance at Newmarket Nights 2007.
Formed in London over 30 years ago, Madness achieved most of their success in the 1980’s when, with their self confessed ‘nutty sound’ music, they spent more weeks in the UK charts than any other artist. Between 1979 and 1988, Madness released 25 singles and eight albums and were one of Britain’s most successful artists with a record-breaking 214 weeks spent in the British Charts.
After the original seven members (Suggs, Mike Barson, Lee Thompson, Chris Foreman, Mark Bedford, Daniel Woodgate and Chas Smash) reformed in 1992, Madness released a new album, embarked on a UK tour and were the inspiration for the West End Musical, Our House.
In 2007, Madness returned as the magnificent seven and began work on a new studio album (to be released this year, 2008). Throughout the summer they performed at various events including Newmarket Nights and in December embarked on a seven date arena UK tour coming home to finish the tour at London’s O2 Arena. The first single from the new album was releases in January 2008 and entered the charts at number 24.
