THE flying form of jockey William Buick continued this afternoon where he recorded a 311-1 treble courtesy of Chiberta King, Victoria Montoya and Oceana Blue for his boss, trainer Andrew Balding.
Buick, who also rode two winners at the York Dante meeting earlier this week, landed the feature betinternet.com Handicap aboard Kingsclere Racing Club’s Victoria Montoya.
The daughter of High Chaparral, an 11-2 shot, was settled in behind the leader by Buick before taking up the running 2f out. She stayed on well when hitting the rising ground to win by four and a half lengths.
Buick said: “She has improved a lot and is a strong stayer. I wouldn’t be surprised if she developed into a Cesarewitch horse.”
Earlier on in the afternoon Balding and Buick had also scooped the spoils in the Best Odds Guaranteed at betinternet.com Handicap with 3-1 chance Chiberta King.
Buick sat the son of King’s Best just off the pace which was set by the Mark Johnston- trained Petrovsky.
They quickened the pace over 3f out with Buick joining the long time leader at The Bushes. After a gruelling battle the son of King’s Best got his head in front and stayed on to win by half a length.
Chris Bonner assistant trainer to Andrew Balding said: “He is a nice horse who keeps finding more and William gets on well with him.”
Oceana Bay made it a day to remember when completing a treble for Balding and Buick in the Sports Betting at betinternet.com Handicap.
Sent off at odds of 11-1, she was settled in mid-field by Buick. She was ridden along 2f out but responded gamely to pressure and ran on well to get up inside the final furlong scoring by half a length.
Niran completed an across the card double for trainer Clive Brittain in the betinternet.com Novice Stakes. The 8-1 chance tracked the leaders in the hands of Seb Sanders and quickened up smoothly, getting the better of Shark Man after a ding-dong battle to score by a neck.
A delighted Brittain said: “He has been working well at home a I wouldn’t worry about stepping him up to seven furlongs. We’ll probably look for a conditions race next.”
Evergreen Ace of Hearts took the Play Live Casino at betinternet.com Handicap in gutsy fashion for trainer Chris Wall and jockey Jack Mitchell.
