Fun for everyone at Newmarket's Countryside Family Fun Day
Tuesday 5th February, 2008
Newmarket Racecourses will once again host the Countryside Family Fun Day, on Sunday 25th May, at the NatWest Rowley Mile Racecourse. Now in its seventeenth year, the event promises to be the best yet, with lots more fun and interactive activities, displays and shopping opportunities planned for the whole family to enjoy.
Families attending the raceday should make sure they visit the Rowley Enclosure as there will a wide range of interactive activities on offer. Racegoers can come and have a go on the Bucking Bronco and Racehorse Simulator or try their hands at Digital Clay Shooting, Fly Casting and Archery.
There will be Mask Making with the Cambridgeshire Open Studios, Face Painting and a showcase from the Top Lodge Trio, Europe’s top dog handlers who perform dog dancing. Children will also be invited to come and visit the ferret display, where they will be able to pet and hold the animals. Children under 16 years of age are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
There will be a variety of shopping opportunities around the racecourse including the shopping village located on the Hyperion Lawn selling a wide variety of arts, crafts, jewellery and clothing and a Food Hall located in the Eclipse Marquee near to the Premier Enclosure entrance.
The day will feature as always top class horseracing throughout the day, Charles Owen Pony Racing at the end of the day and a variety of Countryside Displays with Hounds, Birds of Prey and Hearing Dogs in the parade ring and around the racecourse.
Not only is the raceday, a fun day out for all the family, it’s also a great way to contribute to some deserving charitable organisations. Since its inception in 1992, the raceday has raised over £1m for the Countryside Alliance and two annually selected charities. The 2008 charities are Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and Norfolk & Norwich Association for the Blind.
