Merseyside Derby will also be screened

The highest class race day in the British Racing Calendar comes to Newmarket this weekend and there are still tickets available for you to witness a host of star horses and jockeys competing on the most historic stretch of turf in the entire world of sport.

Champions’ Day on Saturday 20th October is not one to be missed, with 6 Group races, the highest class contests in the international racing programme, and the legendary “£2.5 million totescoop6” Cesarewitch Handicap. This is horseracing at its very best. The world’s leading trainers and jockeys will be here, all competing for glory and a slice at the £1million plus of prize money up for grabs.

Local racing hero, Frankie Dettori will definitely be racing at Newmarket on Champions’ Day. He said: “Newmarket is one of the greatest racing stages in the world and with Champions’ Day being one of the most exciting days racing of the year, I am certainly looking forward to riding there on Saturday.

“I have yet to win one of the two Group 1 races on Champions’ Day, the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes and the Darley Dewhurst Stakes, but I have a fantastic chance in both this year.  Creachadoir in the Champion and Rio De La Plata in the Dewhurst, which could the best two-year-old of the decade, look sure to go really well.  I can’t wait for Saturday to come!”

There is also no need for racegoers to miss the football as the Merseyside Derby will be screened live at the course. Racegoers in the Premier and Grandstand & Paddock Enclosures will be able to enjoy the Liverpool versus Everton Premiership football match on the big screen, located on the Hyperion Lawn before racing, at 12.45pm.

The seven races on Champions' Day add up to what is, quite simply, the best of the best.  Derby Day may boast one great race; each day of Royal Ascot may boast two or three; but Champions' Day is sensational from beginning to end.

If you have even just a passing interest in flat racing, attending Champions' Day is an absolute must.

Tickets are priced at:

Premier Enclosure - £36
Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure - £22
Rowley Enclosure - £8

Tickets for all enclosures on the day. Gates open at 11.35pm and first race is 2.05pm.
