Master Chef heads 12 declarations for Britain's Most Valuable Nursery
Thursday 23rd August, 2007
The John Gosden-trained Master Chef heads 12 declarations for Saturday’s £50,000 Unicorn Asset Management July Course Series Final (2.50pm), the most valuable nursery run in Britain and the culmination of a unique 11 race series on Newmarket's summer racecourse.
Ten qualifiers - a mixture of maidens and nurseries, all with a minimum value of £10,000 - have been run on the July Course over the last two months, with three of the winners, Red Alert Day, Elna Bright and Dan Tucket, set to contest tomorrow's Final.
Newmarket's Director of Racing, Michael Prosser, commented: "The Unicorn Asset Management July Course Series has been a resounding success with big fields in most of the qualifiers, all of which were very strongly contested.
"Saturday's Final looks very competitive and we will be sitting down with Peter Webb, who owns Unicorn Asset Management, and whose enthusiasm for the Series has been fantastic, in the coming weeks to discuss next year's plans. We may look to introduce some extra incentives for the qualifier winners to run in the Final, though I am very satisfied to have three in tomorrow's field and nearly all the other nine have solid placed form from the qualifiers.
"As all the races in the Series are run on the July Course, making it unique in terms of major race series in this country, punters have plenty of clues as to how well each of tomorrow's runners acts on the track, with lots of collateral course form to assess."
