BANSHA House Stables in County Tipperary, who sponsored for the first time at Newmarket in 2006 with a Listed race, the banshahousestables.com European Free Handicap, have upgraded this year to support the £50,000 Group Three banshahousestables.com Craven Stakes, the big race at Newmarket’s opening meeting of the new season on Thursday, April 19.

The banshahousestables.com Craven Stakes has a long and illustrious history as a trial for the Stan James 2000 Guineas, with Haafhd the most recent winner to go on to classic glory at Newmarket in 2004.

Lisa Hancock, Newmarket’s Managing Director, said: "The banshahousestables.com Craven Stakes will be the centrepiece of the new-look, two-day Craven Meeting this year. We are delighted that Bansha House Stables are staying with us and have now signed a three-year deal to sponsor this historic race."

Con Marnane, owner of Bansha House Stables who were the breeze-up consignors of two Group One winning two-year-olds in 2005 in Amadeus Wolf and Palace Episode as well as last year's Group 2 Richmond Stakes winner, Hamoody, said: "Sponsoring at the Craven Meeting, with the Tattersalls Breeze-Up Sales taking place at the same time where we will once again be consigning plenty of very promising horses, works really well for us and we are thrilled to be taking the step up to Group race sponsorship this year. It will be a very exciting week for us."
