Where is Newmarket?

Set on the Suffolk / Cambridgeshire borders, on the outskirts of the town centre and surrounded by training gallops and heathland, the Rowley Mile Racecourse and July Racecourse are just 12 miles from Cambridge and 60 miles from London.

How to get to Newmarket?

By Road

The A11 and A14 provide easy access from the major cities of East Anglia and from the M11 and A1 / M1 respectively.

By Rail

Regular commuter services run from London Kings Cross and Liverpool Street to Cambridge, Stansted Airport and Ipswich where onward connections by rail or road can be made to Newmarket.

Newmarket Racecourses provide a subsidized coach service from Newmarket Town Centre and Cambridge Station. See “Coaches” below for details.

By Coach

Newmarket Racecourses operates a return coach service on racedays to and from the racecourse from Cambridge train station and outside the Robin Hood pub at Cherry Hinton. Prices: £4 single and £6.50 return.

Day Meetings:

The coach will pick up from Cambridge train station at 12.30pm and pick up from the Robin Hood pub at Cherry Hinton at 12.45pm for day meetings. The return coach to Cambridge will depart from Newmarket Racecourses 30 minutes after the last race for day meetings.

Please note that gates open at 11am on Friday 2nd & Saturday 3rd November. Please also note that the Cambridge bus will pick up from Cambridge Train Station at 11.30am and from outside the Robin Hood Pub in Cherry Hinton at 11.45am (capacity permitting).

Summer Saturday's Live - Saturday 9th June & Saturday 25th August

The coach will pick up from Cambridge train station at 12.30pm and pick up from the Robin Hood pub at Cherry Hinton at 12.45pm for day meetings. The return coach to Cambridge will depart from Newmarket Racecourses at 7.30pm

Evening Meetings:

The coach will pick up from Cambridge train station at 4.45pm and pick up from the Robin Hood pub at Cherry Hinton at 5pm for evening meetings. The return coach to Cambridge will depart from Newmarket Racecourses at 10.45pm.

Please Note: At the Adnams Newmarket Nights, the return bus service to Cambridge is scheduled in order to link in with the last trains out of Cambridge.

Saturday 6th October:

Please note that the Cambridge bus will be picking up from the Queens Road Coach Bays at 12.10pm for Cambridge University Students.

Complimentary Newmarket Town Shuttle

The racecourse provides a complimentary shuttle service on all race days. The service runs between Newmarket Town Centre and the course starting approximately two hours before the first race with pick-ups at Hughes Electrical Store, The Guineas Shopping Centre and Newmarket train station.

Please note that the shuttle bus service does stop after the first race has been run and then recomences just before the last race.

Newmarket train station pick-ups are timed to coincide with the arrival times of trains from Cambridge and Ipswich. The return journeys from the racecourse commence around 45 minutes before the last race and continue for up to two hours except on the "Adnams Newmarket Nights" evening meetings when the service also operates at the conclusion of the post racing concerts.

The bus stop for the Newmarket Shuttle Bus is located outside of Premier Enclosure 1.
