Friday 19th July - Madness

IT'S Madness . . . yes Newmarket Racecourses is turning into a House of Fun next year.

The iconic 2 tone pop band has been revealed as the second of seven artists who will perform at Adnams Newmarket Nights on the July Course in 2013.

Frontman Suggs and his fellow band mates Chas Smash, Barzo, Chrissy Boy, Thommo and Woody will be on track on Friday evening 19 July when the racecourse will reverberate to pop classics such as One Step Beyond, Baggy Trousers and It Must Be Love.

Music and horse racing fans alike are being urged to book their places as soon as possible for what is predicted to be a sell-out because, 35 years on from their formation, the band is as popular as ever with their legions of followers.

Adnams Newmarket Nights attracted audiences totaling over 100,000 this year – including over 21,000 people for Madness’s appearance in June and another very big crowd is expected next July.

Amy Starkey, regional director of Jockey Club Racecourses, said: "Madness were hugely popular with our visitors in the summer and we are delighted to have been able to book them again for Adnams Newmarket Nights in 2013. It is going to be a fantastic evening of horse racing and pop music, and I'm sure many thousands of the band's fans will be with us on Friday 19 July."

As well as the Adnams Newmarket Nights with Madness (19 July) and the Kaiser Chiefs (2 August), there are five other concerts at the July Course in Newmarket on Friday evenings over the summer - 21 and 28 June, 26 July, and 9 and 16 August. The five remaining artists will be announced in coming weeks and months.
