Emirates Airline Champion Stakes - Sponsor Information

Discover the World of Horse Racing with Emirates

With its long-standing commitment to sport sponsorships, Emirates – the multi award-winning international airline – has been involved with a wide range of sporting events and teams around the world for over 20 years.

This includes a long and proud association with the Sport of Kings, sponsoring events such as the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes, which will be run at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile on Champions' Day, 16th October 2010.

This world class, international race was won in 2009 by Twice Over, saddled by the legendary Newmarket trainer, Henry Cecil, while in 2008 the brilliant Irish-trained colt, New Approach, scorched to victory in sensational style.  French ace Literato, whose connections are pictured below receiving their prizes after the race, was successful in 2007.

Further afield, Emirates is also the proud sponsor of the Dubai World Cup, the world’s richest horse race, as well as the Emirates Melbourne Cup in Australia, the Breeders’ Cup in America and the Emirates Singapore Derby, to name but a few.  And, with its extensive global network spanning six continents, Emirates can take you right to the heart of the horse racing action.

Extensive Flight Network

The carrier operates 98 weekly flights from the UK to Dubai, with non-stop services from Heathrow (five times daily), London Gatwick ( three times daily), Birmingham and Manchester (twice daily), plus Newcastle and Glasgow (daily).

From Dubai, the carrier then offers convenient onward connections to destinations including Australia & New Zealand, South Africa, India, China, Singapore, Thailand and the Indian Ocean.

Services from the UK are operated by a range of modern Airbus and Boeing aircraft, including the new A380 superjumbo which operates on selected services from Heathrow, and onto destinations including Australia, New Zealand and Thailand.

Award-winning Service

During the flight, passengers can enjoy the airline’s award-winning service, multi-course meals, fine wines and a state-of-the-art entertainment system.  A revolutionary ‘mood-lighting’ system throughout the aircraft is design to help passengers counter the effects of jet-lag.

For those travelling on the A380, Emirates has invested heavily in onboard features including two Onboard Shower Spas located in the First Class cabin, each consisting of a shower cubicle, wash basin, clothes changing area and toilet.
