KIEREN Fallon was just four-some this afternoon with the in-from jockey at his inspirational best in riding a quartet of winners.
Godolphin trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni supplied him with his first two successes - Pimpernel and French Navy.
He completed a great day by nailing the final two races aboard the William Haggas-trained Nordic Sky and lastly Luca Cumani’s charge Midnight Oil.
Fallon said: “I’m delighted with this afternoon. Things have gone my way. It is not an easy track to ride but I really enjoy the July Course - it’s one of my favourites and is all about fine timing.”
Fallon got the ball rolling on Pimpernel in the 7f Sky Bet Mobile Fillies’ Nursery. The 8/1 chance mastered the favourite Salford Art late on and won by three-parts of a length to the delight Al Zarooni.
He said: “She has surprised us, to be honest. We thought with top weight she would not win but she did and Kieren was very happy with her. He thinks she is a nice filly.”
The WT’S Snooker and Sporting Club Conditions Stakes then provided Zarooni and Fallon with victory, thanks to even money favourite French Navy. He ran out an easy winner by two and a quarter lengths from Joshua Tree.
Fallon made it ‘three and easy’ when delivering 5/2 favourite Nordic Sky in the Mickey Flynn’s American Pool Hall Handicap before wrapping things up nicely with a one-length win on Midnight Oil in the concluding mile and a half handicap.
Harry Bentley was all smiles after booting home Bertiewhittle in the Sky Bet-sponsored £40,000 sprint feature at of this afternoon.
The teenage jockey secured one of the biggest wins of his blossoming career as trainer David Barron sent out a one-two with Elusive Prince beaten a length in second.
Bertiewhittle, named after a deceased miner, returned the 8/1 winner after bursting through horses to assert in the closing stages.
Bentley, who is fine value for his 3lb claim, said: “He has had loads of problems in running - horses stopping in front of me. A lot of horses would have backed off in that situation but he has knuckled down.
“He is a horse with ability and is so game and that’s why he has won. To have a Channel 4 winner on a Saturday at such a prestigious track is a great result for me.”
The Sky Bet Grey Horse Handicap fell to the Tony Carroll-trained Time Medicean. He came with a strong late challenge under 7lb claimer Raul Da Silva to beat Tadalavil by a length.
“I acquired him after his win (at Beverley) last time and I’ve been very pleased with him,” said Carroll of his 11/1 winner. “This race was always on my mind for him.
“I know very little about Raul but I wanted to take some weight off the horse who is not big. Raul was put up to me after he rode a winner at Ascot.”
Debutant Tidentime beat some more fancied rivals to take the EBF Cockney Rebel Maiden Stakes by a neck.
Trainer Mick Channon’s charge drifted from 12s out to 16-1 but got the better of Out Do in a hard-fought battle at the end of the six-furlong contest.
Channon’s assistant and son Michael said: “We came here hopeful that we had a nice horse and thought that it would put him right for next time. This is an added bonus. It’s always a bit of an eye-catcher when one of ours comes out and wins first time.”
The final two-day meeting of the year on the July Course begins on Friday, August 26.
