Nationalism has ‘ideal profile’ for totesport.com Cambridgeshire

JOCKEY William Buick is looking forward to riding Nationalism in the Totesport.com Cambridgeshire on Saturday afternoon.

The leading young jockey is aiming to win the prestigious race for the first time but his boss trainer John Gosden will be going for his fourth win having saddled Halling (1994), Pipedreamer (2007) and Tazeez (2008) to success.

George Strawbridge’s son of Pivotal won his last start at Goodwood in taking fashion, showing a liking for soft ground.

He is stepping up in class on Saturday but his jockey is confident that he can put up a bold showing.

He said: “He is a pretty short price for a race like the Cambridgeshire as so much can happen with so many runners and the draw plays a part.

“He has done nothing wrong and has an ideal profile for the race. He will get a strong gallop and being by Pivotal the ground should suit.

“He seems very straightforward but I wouldn’t want to hit the front too soon.”
