Dream Ahead in ‘good order’ ahead of Shadwell Middle Park

TRAINER David Simcock reported that Dream Ahead is in top form ahead of his tilt at the Shadwell Middle Park Stakes tomorrow.

Speaking this morning at a press conference organised by Newmarket Racecourses, the Newmarket handler revealed that his son of Diktat has been working well at home and improved since his win in the Group 1 Prix Morny last month.

“He seems in good order and came out of his race in France very well,” said Simock. “His work has been good and he seems to have improved mentally more than anything.

“The recent rain has been welcomed; there is no question that he will like it as he has a big knee action. He doesn’t have electric speed like Temple Meads and I’d say that he’s ready for a step up in trip but he definitely should be very competitive.”

Jockey William Buick added: “He is a horse that just swallows up the ground. He is very straightforward and I am looking forward to riding him.”

Harry Herbert, racing manager for Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, had news of their runner Approve.

The William Haggas-trained colt has won both the Norfolk and Gimcrack Stakes this year and comes into the race on the back of a good second to Saamidd in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.

Herbert said: “Approve is one of the toughest horses we have ever had at Highclere. He always runs well and comes back bucking and kicking – he is remarkable.

“William says he seems on top form at home and looks fantastic. We ran him seven furlongs last time and i think he stayed but a fast run six gives him an edge.”
