ANDREW Stone only recently became an owner with trainer David Simcock but the two men have already tasted success together thanks to hat-trick heroine I’m A Dreamer.
Running for the first time in Stone’s beige St Albans Bloodstock silks, the daughter of Noverre came from last to first for a length and three-quarters triumph in the E.B.F 32 Red Fillies’ handicap.
She is still unbeaten and this was particularly impressive as she picked up in good style to settle this in a matter of strides from just over 1f out in the mile contest.
Simcock said of his 13/8 winner: “She is not a bad filly and showed a good turn of foot there. Hopefully, she will go on to better things.”
“Andrew is an important new owner for the yard so I am delighted for him - it is a nice way for us to start off.”
Suited And Booted was too smart for his rivals in the 7f 32Red Casino Of The Decade handicap.
The Richard Hannon-trained colt was backed from 13/2 into 7/2 favouritism and duly obliged in the hands of Pat Dobbs.
He burst between horses over 1f out and always looked like holding the runner-up Tesslam with the eventual victory margin being three parts of a length.
Joe Packet followed up a win at Chepstow last time with a solid success in the 32Red.com handicap, staged over 6f.
Trainer Jonathan Portman’s charge asserted at the furlong pole and skipped clear to win by a length and a quarter from Pirate’s Song.
John Fahy was aboard the 4/1 winner and 5lb claimer completed a 39/1 double on the day when booting home Russian Rock in the £18,000 £32 Red Casino handicap.
Epsom trainer Roger Teal was delighted with the 7/1 success - his third from just eight runners on the track in the last five years.
Teal said: “He has run a cracker and is so tough. Hopefully there is improvement in him and if he comes out of this alright there is a nice race at Haydock for him in a couple of weeks.”
Liberty Cap was a surprise winner of the 32Red.com maiden stakes, getting up by half a length from Introvert.
The stable second string according to the market, the John Gosden-trained 20/1 shot made a pleasing debut in the hands of Nicky Mackay.
Gosden’s Clarehaven yard is in good form and half an hour later Space War completed a double for them in the 1m Bet At 32Red Maiden Stakes as he led home stable-mate Dhaamer, who shaped with promise on his debut.
The finale, the 32Red Poker handicap, saw Lastroseofsummer hold off Ghufa for a 13/2 triumph by a one and a half lengths.
This was the first of Newmarket’s Friday-Saturday double-headers on the July Course. Why not come along next weekend when there is some great racing and also great musical entertainment with Spandau Ballet playing next Friday.
