Speed to the fore in Tatts opener
RACEGOERS on the July Course this Saturday are in for a real treat as a high-class field of juveniles have been declared for the £100,000 Tattersalls Million Auction Stakes.
This contest is the first leg of the £1.75 million Tattersalls Millions series; eight races for horses brought at Book 1 of the 2009 Tattersalls October Yearling sales.
Run over six furlongs, the first race in the series has attracted 12 of the fastest horses from that sale headed by the top-class Zebedee who represents the formidable Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes combination.
Zebedee is likely to be sent off a red-hot favourite following his cosy win in the Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
The son of Invincible Spirit is conceding weight all-round but will be hard to beat if turns up in a similar vein of form.
Owner Julie Wood’s familiar green and red colours will also be carried by Dane O’Neill aboard Yashila, also trained by Hannon.
Malthouse created a favourable impression when winning an Ascot maiden on debut back in July. This strapping son of Green Desert cost 100,000guineas as a yearling and comes from a good German family.
Another entry that catches the eye is the Clive Brittain-trained Masaya. The daughter of Dansili was second in a competitive fillies’ nursery over course and distance earlier this month and she looks to have a good each-way chance.
The Paul Cole-trained Child Bride cost just 5,250gns and she squeezes into this race off a weight of just 8st.
A winner on debut at Yarmouth and third at Bath last time out, this daughter of Invincible Spirit could be in the mix.
Cruiser, a 73,500gns son of Oasis Dream, has yet to win a race but his form from two maidens at Newbury and Sandown is holding up well and he is a lively outsider.
Mayhab, Firstknight, Shafgaan, Queen O’The Desert, Button Trail and Freedom Trail make up the remainder of the field.
