More success for Hannon-Hughes combo

FAVOURITE Zebedee (pictured above) secured the inaugural £100,000 Tattersalls Millions Auction Stakes today for trainer Richard Hannon and jockey Richard Hughes.

The son of Invincible Spirit runs in the familiar colours of Julie Wood and made it five wins from six starts with a cosy victory this afternoon.

Backers of Zebedee would have been on the edge of their seats, however, as Hughes left it to the very last minute to put his mount in the lead on the line.

The winning distance was officially a head but Zebedee appeared to win with more up his sleeve and could take up his entry in the Shadwell Middle Park Stakes on the Rowley Mile (October 1.)

Richard Hannon jnr, assistant to his father said: “I think he did it really well. He got the six furlongs no problem and acted on the softer ground.

“He is definitely a very classy two-year old. He has an entry in the Middle Park but could also run in either the Mill Reef or the Flying Childers.”
