Guineas hope Tabassum looks the part

STANJAMES.COM 1000 Guineas hope Tabassum pleased her connections in a workout over 6f on the Rowley Mile this afternoon.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained filly, a 16/1 shot for Sunday May 2’s big race with sponsors, looked to be in fine fettle as she stretched out under jockey Richard Hills.

Stoute said: “We wanted to reappear on the racecourse but it was never the plan to run in a trial as she needs space between her races.

“She doesn’t need a race as she won first time out last year- this was just to give her some exposure at the race track.”

In a separate exercise, Barry Hills brought Sent From Heaven for a spin.

She moved well in a workout with one other and is on course for the StanJames.com 1000 Guineas.

On the same day 12 months ago Hills sent Ghanaati for a similar gallop but isn’t convinced his intended runner in this year’s fillies’ Classic is of a similar standard.

The trainer said: “She is at about the same stage as Ghanaati was last April but whether she is as good is another matter.

“She’s a nice filly and will get the mile well. She needed a bit of work like that and I will run her here in the Guineas and she will run very well too.”
