Society Rock bags Tattersalls Timeform Millions Sprint
James Fanshawe - trained Society Rock, winner of the Tattersalls Timeform Millions Sprint
SOCIETY ROCK landed the £250,000 Tattersalls Timeform Millions Sprint in a thrilling finish from Take Ten.
The son of Rock of Gibraltar had to dig deep to land the £136,000 first prize but he showed a game attitude and looks a colt with a big future.
Jockey George Baker had his mount settled nicely towards the rear and he picked up well to weave between runners and get up late on, scoring by a head.
Winning trainer James Fanshawe said: “That was a real thrill. We made the mistake of running him over seven first time out as he looks to be more of a sprinter now.
“It’s great for the owner, Simon Gibson, who has been a great supporter of the yard over the years.
“Whether he’ll be back for the seven furlong race (Tattersalls Timeform Million), I'm not sure.”
The minor honours were filled by Take Ten, who faired best of the Johnston trio and Jira, who ran on well to take third for trainer Clive Brittain and Japanese riding sensation, Kosei Miura.
