It's the Electrolux Cheveley Park Stakes
A world leader in the production and distribution of professional kitchens, Electrolux Professional is sponsoring the prestigious Cheveley Park Stakes on Friday 2nd October at Newmarket.
Inaugurated in 1899, the Cheveley Park Stakes is one of the most historic races staged at The Home of Racing. Run over a distance of six furlongs on the Rowley Mile racecourse, it is one of only two Group One contests for two-year-old fillies in Great Britain.
Andrew Jones, managing director, Electrolux Professional, comments: “This is the first time Electrolux Professional has sponsored this historic race, so we are delighted to be a part of it.
“Knowing what a high profile event this is and being the middle day of the Cambridgeshire Meeting, there’s no doubt that the eyes of the international horseracing world will be focused firmly on Newmarket, offering us a great opportunity to increase our brand awareness.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the fillies take to the racecourse and wish all the owners, trainers and jockeys the best of luck for the race.”
Newmarket’s Director of Racing Michael Prosser said: “We are thrilled that Electrolux has chosen to sponsor one of the most prestigious and important races that we stage each year.
“Friday’s renewal looks to be an exceptional one, judged on the very high quality of the entry. The winner of our Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes – Misheer – is in there as are Lowther Stakes heroine Lady Of The Desert and Albany Stakes winner Habaayib.
“The French challenge looks to be intriguing, too, with Special Duty – successful in the Prix Robert Papin – and the Robert Collet-trained Dolled Up set to take their chance.
“The 2009 Electrolux Cheveley Park Stakes really does have all the makings of a superb race.”
