Wall seeking fresh 'Bounty'

Trainer Chris Wall is hopeful that Bounty Box can make the successful step up to Listed company in the £40,000 EBF National Stud Boadicea Fillies’ Stakes (4.20pm) over six furlongs at Newmarket tomorrow, Friday, 16th October, 2009.

The progressive three-year-old Bahamian Bounty filly was narrowly denied over the same course and distance in the EBF Fillies’ Handicap on October 1, when she was worn down in the shadow of the post by Sea Of Leaves.

She had previously got the better of the Jim Goldie-trained filly over six furlongs on the July Course in mid-August, coming out on top in a thrilling finish to the skybet.com For All Your Football Betting Heritage Handicap, having posted a more comfortable victory in another six-furlong handicap on the July Course the previous month.

Newmarket-based Wall reported: “Bounty Box is well at the moment. Like a lot of fillies at this time of year, she has started to turn in her coat but it doesn’t seem to bother her and she is in good form. We want to see if she can compete in Listed company and she has given an indication in her races that she can make the step up.

“She has been progressing along nicely and the time has come now to put her in at the deeper end to see how she fares. We are not favoured by being drawn in stall one but we will just have to see how she performs and hope for the best.

“She is in good enough shape to run well if everything goes right for her. We are taking on Sea Of Leaves for a third time and the score is one-all at the moment but I certainly think that my filly will appreciate the better ground - it was pretty quick the last time that they met.

“There’s only been a neck between us and Sea Of Leaves on their previous two starts and it looks like it will be pretty close again at level weights. We would settle for second, to get the black type, but it would be great to finish her season with a Listed victory.”

British Bloodstock Marketing host Breeders’ Day tomorrow, with the aim of the day being to promote British breeding by working with Newmarket Racecourse and the sponsors. An eight-race card also includes the £65,000 Group Three Thurlow Nunn Standen Darley Stakes (3.10pm) and the £40,000 Listed Lanwades Stud Several Stakes (3.45pm).
