SAHPRESA, trained in France by Rod Collet and ridden by Ted Durcan, proved too strong for the Barry Hills-trained favourite Ghanaati in the Kingdon of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes.

Ghanaati, winner of the stanjames.com 1000 Guineas over course and distance in May, hit the front just over a furlong from home, but she had no answer to the late charge of Sahpresa, who cut her down on the run to the line to win by a length and half.

Newmarket-trained Spacious, who had made most of the running, could not quicken with the first two, but stayed on for a commendable third.

Rod Collet, son of trainer Robert Collet, said of his 16-1 winner: "It is my first my Group One race and it is a pleasure to win in England. I have only had a couple of runners here before and I only have 30 or 40 horses.

"She is a top filly and the plan is to keep her in training next year."
