Gleam rises to 'Challenge'

ARABIAN Gleam returned to top form this afternoon when landing the Victor Chandler Challenge Stakes for trainer Jeremy Noseda and jockey Johnny Murtagh.

The son of Kyllachy, a 7/1 chance, was settled on the heels of the leaders by Murtagh and always travelled well.

He was last to come off the bridle and hit the front over a furlong out. He stayed on well under pressure to score by neck.

Noseda said: ““This horse tries awfully hard - he is a good solid performer. That is a Group Two win for him in each of the last three seasons and you can’t ask more for than that.

“The good ground gave him his chance and he put his best foot forward. Johnny Murtagh makes a big difference to this horse as he seems to always get a good tune out of him, so it was advantage to have him on board today.”
