RYAN Moore was crowned as the 2009 champion jockey at Newmarket today when he was presented with the prize by trainer John Dunlop.

It is the third time that 26-year-old Moore, who donated his winnings to Malton Fire Disaster Fund (through racing Welfare) and the Injured Jockeys’ Fund, has been champion.

He said: “I’ve had a nice year and a few big winners along the way. Winning the King George on Conduit was the highlight. It’s probably still the most important race after the Derby and one you always a race you want to win.”

Moore insisted that his drive and ambition haven’t been diminished by his triumphs, pledging: “There is still plenty more to do.

“There are big races all the time - Classics and other big races here, France, the rest of Europe, America, Dubai, Japan and Hong Kong. Those are the races you want to be part of and win.”
