Forte on target for Haggas

ROARING Forte could be Royal Ascot-bound following a smooth performance in the Edmondson Hall Solicitors and Sports Lawyers Handicap for trainer William Haggas and jockey Liam Jones.

The son of Cape Cross, sent off a 5-2 chance, led from the start and never saw another rival in coming home successful by two and a half lengths.

Haggas said: “He did it well today and is a nice horse. I think we’ll go to Ascot next for the Buckingham Palace Stakes.”

Another Ascot possibility is Bell’s Ocean who made every yard in taking the European Breeders’ Fund Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.

It was a first winner at his local track for trainer John Ryan, who said of his 11/4 scorer: “She is a very exciting filly and I’d like her to go to Ascot perhaps for the Queen Mary Stakes.”
