Budding young artists needed for the NSPCC’s Family Race Day
The NSPCC has launched a children’s art competition as part of its 10th anniversary Family Race Day at Newmarket on 25 July.
The children’s charity is calling on local children and young people to design the front cover of the race card, which will then be turned into the programme for the Race Day.
The theme is ‘Let’s celebrate the 10th anniversary Family Race Day’ and there are two age groups – 7 years and under and 8 to 16 years old. Winners in both age groups will win tickets to the Race Day and the overall winner will have their winning artwork printed on the front of the race card.
Judging the competition is ChildLine founder and president, Esther Rantzen, who said: “I am delighted to be judging the competition and excited about seeing the creative and colourful entries. I'm sure there are a lot of talented young artists out there and I’ll have a tough job deciding on the winner.”
Entries should be A4 portrait style with name, age, address, contact number and school on the back. Completed artwork should be posted to NSPCC art competition, c/o Newmarket Racecourses, Westfield House, The Links, Newmarket, Suffolk, CB8 0TG. The closing date for entries is Friday 5 June.
The NSPCC’s 10th anniversary Family Race Day is on Saturday 25 July at Newmarket Racecourses and organisers aim to make it the best one yet. All money raised by the Race Day will go towards the NSPCC Child’s Voice Appeal which aims to raise £50 million over three years to help the charity expand its vital helplines – ChildLine and NSPCC Helpline.
There are a variety of ticket options available for the Race Day starting at just £5 per person. Tickets can be booked by visiting www.newmarketracecourses.co.uk or by calling the box office on 0844 579 3010.
