Quality and depth apparent in Stan James 1000 Guineas entry

Rainbow View - 2/1 favourite for the Stan James 1000 Guineas

RAINBOW View heads up an outstanding initial entry for Sunday May 3’s Stan James 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.

Trainer John Gosden’s filly was unbeaten as a two-year-old and rounded off her 2008 campaign with a fine victory in the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile at Ascot.

If she is to preserve that proud record on the first weekend in May, she’ll have to see off another undefeated Group 1 heroine in Serious Attitude, winner of last October’s Cheveley Park Stakes on the Rowley Mile.

The Stan James 1000 Guineas challenge will be made even stiffer with both Fantasia (Luca Cumani) and Cuis Ghaire (Jim Bolger) among her possible rivals.

Newmarket’s Director of Racing Michael Prosser said: “All the main players are included in the initial entry for the Stan James 1000 Guineas.

“The exceptional and unbeaten Group 1 winners Rainbow View and Serious Attitude are in – as are exciting and also unexposed fillies in Apple Charlotte and Sariska, both of whom won at our final 2008 meeting last November.”

Charlie McCann, Head of PR for Stan James, said: “The brilliant unbeaten filly Rainbow View looks the one to beat in the Stan James 1000 Guineas in 2009.”
