Trio of acts confirmed for Newmarket Nights
Newmarket Racecourse has confirmed three acts for Newmarket Nights 2009. Status Quo will hit the stage on the 24th July, Simply Red will appear on the 31st July, and Scouting For Girls will make their Newmarket debut on the 7th August.
Status Quo, who first appeared on the Newmarket stage in 2002 and then 2003, thrilled a sell-out crowd on both occasions. They returned to town in 2006 and have now confirmed they will be rocking the home of racing again on Friday the 24th July. The band have played in front of royalty, have appeared on BBC Top of the Pops over one hundred times and have recorded top twenty hits across five decades. Quo have recorded 64 British hit singles and are sure to entertain the crowd with some of their biggest hits.
Simply Red fronted by Mick ‘Red’ Hucknall, formed in 1984 and are currently celebrating 25 years of hit records with the Greatest Hits album entitled “Simply Red 25.” The Album features all of the band’s best loved hits including ‘Holding Back the Years.’ ‘Fairground,’ ‘If You Don’t Know Me By Now’ and ‘Stars.’ They are playing at the racecourse on the 31st July.
Scouting For Girls make their Newmarket debut on Friday the 7th August. The musical trio that make up the band first formed in 2005 and have had hits including ‘She’s So Lovely,’ ‘Heartbeat,’ ‘Elvis Aint Dead,’ and ‘It’s Not About You.’ The indie-pop group are primed to have a big year on the back of receiving three BRIT Award nominations.

A Newmarket Night is an event to remember and combines all the fun of the races with the exhilaration of open air, live concert where you can reminisce with all your favourite songs. All other acts will soon be confirmed to complete the summer of musical entertainment at Newmarket, alongside the excitement of the horse racing.
