THE Classic clues for next year are starting to come thick and fast with Seta quoted at 14/1 for the 1000 Guineas with the sponsor Stan James after bolting up on her debut.

In the Leigh family’s famous beige silks - worn in the past by Barathea and Gossamer - the well-backed debutante demolished her field in the 7f sportingbet.com EBF fillies’ maiden.

She travelled well for jockey Dane O’Neill, celebrating his 34th birthday, and eased past her leading market rival Dyna Waltz two furlongs out before galloping to a dazzling eight-length triumph.

Trainer Luca Cumani said: “It is nice to have a promising one! She has always looked good from the first day she started working.

“The Fillies’ Mile would be the long-term objective. Before then, everything will come under consideration - the Prestige, May Hill or something lesser. We may go for a conditions race.”

The Ed Dunlop team experienced a day to savour as Broomielaw returned from a 715-day lay-off to land the 1m 2f Adnams Handicap. The Newmarket-based trainer outlined how the five-year-old has had any number of problems and this was just the fourth start of his career.

But the powerful and sizeable son of Rock Of Gibraltar gave a superb performance in the hands of jockey Hayley Turner, upsetting the odds-on favourite Laaheb. Broomielaw, owned by Lady Ferguson - Sir Alex’s wife - swooped inside the closing furlong and stuck his neck out in game fashion to score by a neck.

Greeting his 7/1 winner, Ed Dunlop said: “This is like winning something major - we are absolutely thrilled.

“He has had everything wrong that you could imagine and many times the owners and I have considered the horse’s future. He has always had a lot of ability but he has missed a huge amount of time and you could never expect him to come back like that. I‘m happy to have just got here today, but the Cambridgeshire would be the plan.”

Dunlop made it a double on the card with Coeur de Lionne going in by two lengths in the Win At sporting bet.com handicap. Holland was another in double form as he struck on Glen and Molly and Bushman.

The latter capped a fine week for trainer David Simcock who tasted Glorious Goodwood success for the first time (thanks to Surour on Thursday). Bushman landed a four-length victory in the sportingbet.com conditions stakes, the 13/2 shot sweeping through to lead over a furlong out and burst clear for a four-length win from Kay Gee Be.

Simcock said: “I was distraught after his last run at Doncaster where nothing went right and I just wanted to see him come back to form like that. We always thought he was a really nice horse.”

Glen Molly produced an accomplished performance to get the job done in the 7f sportingbet.com handicap. She’d been knocking on the door in her three previous outings this term and got the job done in smooth fashion here. The daughter of Danetime quickened clear of Imaam in the final furlong, going on to score at odds of 11/2 by two and a quarter lengths.

Winning jockey Holland said: “She is a very nice filly and it is good to ride a winner for Barry Hills, my old boss, and good to ride a winner at Newmarket.”

She’s Ok more than lived up to her name when getting off the mark in a valuable six-furlong sportingbet.com nursery at Newmarket this afternoon.

This was the Saeed Manana-owned filly’s fifth racecourse appearance and she did the job well under Chris Catlin. He produced her late and when she hit the rising ground she galloped strongly to the line, holding the late charge of Snow Fairy to win by a head.

Trainer David Lanigan saw his charge The Last Don grind out a brave head victory from Broughton Paradis in the 1m 4f handicap.

He said: ““The Last Don’s owner Paul Brosnan is an old school friend of mine and used to joke that he’d have a horse with me when I became a trainer, so this is really nice.”

Newmarket’s stunning summer season of racing and top-class music continues next Friday with a post-meeting concert by Scouting For Girls.
