Hills registers 300th Newmarket winner
TRAINER Barry Hills registered his 300th winner at Newmarket courtesy of a treble on the first day of the Craven meeting.
The extraordinary feat, which came weeks after he’d made it to 3000 career victories, was sealed by Redwood, who came home the 11/4 winner of the Tuddenham Mill Feilden Stakes.
That was the middle leg of his three-timer, which was triggered by Ouqba (Betterbet European Free Handicap) and completed by Infiraad (Alex Scott Maiden Stakes).
Hills said: “There aren’t many people who have had 300 winners at Newmarket so I’m delighted. I’ve always enjoyed coming here. It’s wonderful racing and a great test of the thoroughbred.”
