Guineas is ‘Serious’ stuff for Rae
Serious Attitude - winner of the Cheveley Park Stakes
SERIOUS ATTITUDE is giving trainer Rae Guest all the right signs ahead of her tilt at Classic glory in The stanjames.com 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday May 3.
The unbeaten Mtoto filly is 7/1 second favourite for the Rowley Mile showdown and looked in grand order as Guest paraded her for assembled media this morning.
He admitted that as the big day draws ever nearer the anticipation is growing, saying: “There’s definitely excitement in the yard. When I get up in the morning, she is the first thing that I think about.
“So far, everything has gone fine since she came back in January bigger and stronger from her winter break at one of my owner’s studs, locally.
“Her jockey for The stanjames.com Guineas has yet to be decided but we will know by Saturday.
“I don’t see any problem at the moment with her getting the mile. She did a nice piece of work over seven furlongs yesterday and finished it well.”
Meanwhile, Aidan O’Brien today indicated that Heart Shaped was on course to represent Ballydoyle in the same race.
He said: “If we have a filly for The stanjames.com 1000 Guineas it would be her. She would be the only one. She ran very well on her last start at two to finish second in America (in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf) and then ran a nice race at Leopardstown the other day. We hope that she can come on for that.”
