Tomorrow’s stars today

Infallible - a 7f maiden winner at last year's final meeting at Newmarket

COME and see the stars of the future at Newmarket’s final meeting of the season, staged this Friday and Saturday.

The two-day fixture is a hot-bed for untapped talent with Group 1 horses such as Passage Of Time and Ouija Board having appeared in past renewals of this Saturday’s bet365.com EBF Montrose FilliesStakes, a Listed handicap.

Last year’s meeting surpassed itself in showcasing the stars of tomorrow with subsequent Group-race winners Paco Boy, Infallible, Dar Re Mi, Tartan Bearer and Twice Over in action.

So who will be the ones climbing through the ranks on The NatWest Rowley Mile this week?

Newmarket trainer Marco Botti is hoping that Happy Forever can pick up some valuable ‘black type’ in the £30,000 Listed EBF Igloos Bosra Sham Fillies’ Stakes over six furlongs on Friday, October 31.

The thrice-raced Dr Fong filly is bidding for a hat-trick following victories over five furlongs.

Botti said: "She’s fine and in good shape. She worked Saturday and showed me that she is in good order, so I am pleased with her.

"Six furlongs at Newmarket is probably the limit of her stamina because she is a very speedy filly. That would be my only concern."

Hughie Morrison is looking for a progressive effort from the lightly-raced Palace Moon - a half-brother to the trainer’s Group One Darley July Cup winner Sakhee’s Secret - in the NGK Spark Plugs Condition Stakes.

Morrison said: “"Palace Moon has had a couple of little issues, which means that he’s not that far forward. It was nothing career threatening and he’s very happy in himself. He’s a decent horse so I hope we will run a big race.”
