Impressive Ashram takes Somerville Tattersall
ASHRAM was introduced at 33/1 for next season’s Stan James 2000 Guineas after running away with the Group 3 Somerville Tattersall Stakes at Newmarket.
He was held up at the rear under Ryan Moore and was noted travelling well 3f out. He was let down for his effort on the far side and took over the running from Jamie Spencer just over 200metres out, running on well to score by four and a half lengths.
Thrilled trainer John Hills said: “He came from last to first like he did in his maiden on The July Course. It was a muddling race at Kempton last time as they went no gallop then sprinted.
“They went an even pace today and he showed a good turn of foot. We’ll look at the Darley Dewhurst or maybe the Horris Hill. I think he’ll go on any ground except the extremes.”
