BUSHRANGER claimed the second Group 1 of his career when landing the Shadwell Middle Park Stakes for trainer David Wachman and jockey Johnny Murtagh.
The son of Danetime won the Prix Morny on his last start and was sent off the 15/8 favourite for today’s contest.
He raced in the near side group tracking the runner-up, Sayif. When asked to quicken he galloped on strongly to lead inside the final furlong, eventually winning by a length and a quarter.
Wachman said: “He’s got better as the year has gone on and is a very straightforward ride. He stays well and is still in the Dewhurst. It depends on what Aidan (O’Brien) has got for the race.
“He’s in all sort sorts of races but the owners have a lot of horses so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”
It was a new two-year old course record and the colt is now a 16/1 chance from 25s with the sponsors for next season’s Stan James 2000 Guineas.
