Art Connoisseur - on course for the Darley July Cup

TRAINER Michael Bell’s Golden Jubilee Stakes hero Art Connoisseur looked to be in good order ahead of his tilt in next Friday’s Darley July Cup.

The son of Lucky Story performed an easy exercise canter up Warren Hill under regular rider Rebecca Caudillo at a media morning organised by Newmarket Racecourses.

He looked in good shape and Bell is hoping he can reproduce his top form away from Ascot and triumph over the international raiders – including the Australian winner of the King’s Stand, Scenic Blast – once again.

Bell said: “He worked yesterday which was his first significant piece since Ascot . The races are three weeks apart so there’s no need to do too much – just enough to keep him fresh and well. He now has to prove himself on another track but I’d be hopeful that he can”

It could be a big week for the Bell team with fellow Royal Ascot winner Moneycantbuymelove coming under consideration for the Group 1 Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes.
