Big Noise will contest the Soccer Saturday Super 6 Handicap tomorrow
TOMORROW sees Little White Lie return to The July Course for the valuable Soccer Saturday Super 6 Handicap a month after winning the historic Ladbrokes Bunbury Cup over course and distance during the Ritz Club July Festival.
Trainer John Jenkins reports his charge in good order ahead of the £40,000 contest which also includes last year’s Ladbrokes Bunbury Cup winner Giganticus and course and distance scorer Big Noise.
“We’ve been really lucky with this horse,” says Jenkins. “He won for us on Oaks day at Epsom and then again at the July meeting. I like winning anything but it’s an extra thrill when it’s such a special race.
“He seems to be in very good form and has gone up a bit in the weights but that shouldn’t bother him. I’m pleased to hear there’s been some rain in Newmarket as that will suit him.”
Jenkins has his eye on two lucrative prizes tomorrow and feels that Spitfire, who ran a good second in the toteswinger Stakes at Newmarket the same day Little White Lie lifted the Bunbury Cup, is one to note in the Shergar Cup Sprint at Ascot.
“It would be really lovely to get the double – I was leading trainer one year at the Shergar Cup with two winners on the card. Spitfire seems really well in himself.”
