Firth Of Fifth 1s

IT WAS a case of déjà vu in the Group Two Wetherbys Superlative Stakes as Richard Kingscote made all to win aboard Firth of Fifth.

Trained by Tom Dascombe, the Traditionally colt followed the same game plan that brought victory for Classic Blade in yesterday’s TNT July Stakes.

Kingscote sent the recent seven length maiden winner straight to the front and was never in danger of being headed over the seven furlong trip to win tidily by a length and a quarter at 8-1.

Second went to the Richard Hannon-trained Weald Park who finished a neck ahead of Shaweel under Frankie Dettori.

It’s been quite a couple of days for the up and coming Dascombe, who said: “He’s been crying out for seven furlongs but there aren’t any of those races early in the season.

“I believe in running horses when they’re ready to go and it just goes to show it's worth running them!”
