Channon's 'Sing'-ing in the rain

Please Sing (left) denies Art Princess late on - picture by Steve Cargill.
PLEASE SING came with a swooping late run to grab the front-running Art Princess and land the Group Two Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes.
The daughter of Royal Applause put a disappointing run at Royal Ascot behind her to score in the six-furlong contest in decent fashion.
Mick Channon’s filly travelled well in behind the long-time leader Art Princess before she was extracted for a run down the centre by jockey Edward Creighton.
The 14-1 shot had three-quarters of a length to spare at the line from Barry Hills’s filly with the David Simcock-trained outsider Ahla Wasahl staying on gamely for third a length further back.
Winning trainer Channon said: “We thought she had a great chance at Ascot but sometimes that happens with two-year-olds.
“When the rain came we thought she had a very good chance of winning and she did!”
As regards the future Channon said: ”We will have to see. We’ll look at the races for the end of the season. She will probably be better over seven.”
