Fun for everyone at Newmarket’s Countryside Family Fun Day
Thursday 15th May, 2008
Newmarket Racecourses will host the Countryside Family Fun Day, on Sunday 25th May, at the NatWest Rowley Mile Racecourse. Since its inception in 1992, the raceday has raised over £1m for the Countryside Alliance and two annually selected charities. The 2008 charities are Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and Norfolk & Norwich Association for the Blind.
This year’s day promises to be the best yet, with a special family emphasis. Families attending the raceday should make sure they visit the Rowley Enclosure as there will a wide range of interactive activities on offer. Racegoers can come and have a go on the Bucking Bronco and Racehorse Simulator or try their hands at Laser Clay Shooting, Fly Casting and Archery.
There will be Mask Making with the Cambridgeshire Open Studios, Face Painting, daring stunt riders and a showcase from the Top Lodge Trio, Europe’s top dancing dog handlers. Children under 16 years of age are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
There will be a variety of shopping opportunities around the racecourse including the shopping village located on the Hyperion Lawn selling a wide variety of arts, crafts, jewellery and clothing and a Food Hall located in the Eclipse Marquee near the Premier Enclosure entrance.
The day will feature, as always, top class horseracing throughout the day, Charles Owen Pony Racing at the end of the day and a variety of Countryside Displays with Hounds, Birds of Prey and Hearing Dogs in the parade ring and around the racecourse.
Tickets can still be purchased online by clicking on link below or by calling 01638 675 500. Dhildren under 16 are free of charge.
