THE BRILLIANT Natagora secured her place in the history books as she ran out the gamest of winners of the stanjamesuk.com 1000 Guineas.

She made it a great day for France - the Andre Fabre-trained Getaway also won the stanjamesuk.com Jockey Club Stakes - with a half-length victory from the battling Natagora with a further half length back to Saoirse Abu.

Christophe Lemaire gave an inspired display in the saddle as he secured victory for the Pascal Bary-trained filly, who returned the 11/4 favourite.

It was her second Group 1 victory at The Home of Racing as she was also victorious in the Cheveley Park Stakes.

Lemaire said: “I’m so glad to win my first Classic in England - it is something special for me.

“She has jumped well, relaxed and I could go the speed I wanted to. I was always in control. I was a little frightened near the end as I could hear the hooves of other horses but she has done it beautifully.”
