Heaven Sent streaks away in the Group Three Dahlia Stakes - picture Steven Cargill

HEAVEN SENT made a successful step up to Group Three level landing the stanjamesuk.com Dahlia Stakes by three lengths from Harvest Queen and Barshiba.

The daughter of Cheveley Park stallion Pivotal had made a successful return to action in the Listed Snowdrop Stakes at Kempton three weeks previously.

Trained by Sir Michael Stoute the 6-4 favourite streaked clear from her rivals in the last two furlongs having been handily placed in a slowly run race.

She was briefly challenged by Harvest Queen coming into the dip but was in command at the line to win by three lengths.

Harvest Queen battled on well to take second for Peter Makin one and three quarter lengths ahead of the staying on Barshiba in third.

Chris Richardson, Managing Director of Cheveley Park Stud, said: “There was no pace early on but it seemed to suit her.

“She’s seriously on the improve, just like her sister Megahertz who kept on improving as she got older.”

When questioned about her future Richardson said: “She could step up in trip to a mile and a quarter or just as well go back to a mile.”
