Can star colt New Approach light up Guineas?

LAST OCTOBER saw New Approach crown a phenomenal season with a glorious triumph in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.
It was the striking chestnut colt’s fifth straight win, preserving his unbeaten record and ensuring that he would finish 2007 as Europe’s champion two-year-old.
This Saturday sees him return to The NatWest Rowley Mile for an even more important occasion: the stanjamesuk.com 2000 Guineas.
The Jim Bolger-trained colt is set to face a stern test in the 200th running of the famous Classic. Among his rivals will be Raven’s Pass, Ibn Khaldun and Jupiter Pluvius.
But Bolger is in positive mood about his the son of Galileo.
He said: “He has done well since Newmarket last year and I couldn’t be happier with the progress he has made.”
There will be up to a 19-strong field in the race with the full line-up to be finalised at the 48-hour declaration stage on Thursday.
