Twice Over all guts in Group 3 triumph

TWICE OVER sprang towards the head of the stanjamesuk.com 2000 Guineas market with a gutsy triumph in the banshahousestables.com Craven Stakes.

Henry Cecil’s charge remains unbeaten after three starts thanks to a short head triumph in today’s Group 3 over The NatWest Rowley Mile - and is now 9/2 with the sponsors for the 200th running of the race.

The favourite Raven’s Pass just edged past 9-4 shot Twice Over but he rallied superbly to get up by a short head with a further six lengths back to The Bogberry.

Cecil was delighted with his winner but stopped short of him committing him for the first domestic Classic of the year on Saturday May 3.

He said: “He is not a definite runner in the Guineas as I’m not sure that he doesn’t want a little bit further. I think he outstayed the other horse here.

“He is a lovely horse who does everything right. If you take the second away he is won easily. I am very pleased with him.

“He was ready for a race and has obviously got improvement in him. But I am not sure whether he is a Guineas horse.

“I will have a discussion with Prince Khalid Abdulla and his racing manager Lord Grimthorpe and we will just see.”
