High hopes for Missit
Thursday 18th October, 2007

Trainer Mick Channon will be hoping Missit will bring him victory this weekend at HQ.
POPULAR owner Tim Corby took some time out from this week’s yearling sales merry-go-round to discuss a filly close to his heart - Missit.
This Saturday will see the daughter of Orpen running at the NatWest Rowley Mile course for the third time this season when she goes in the seriousquitters.co.uk Rockfel Stakes.
The Mick Channon-trained-filly made her debut on the course way back in April when she was second to indicate a promising future ahead.
A subsequent setback then ruled her out until she won a Lingfield maiden by five lengths in September. That persuaded connections to be bold and have a shot at the skybet.com Cheveley Park Stakes in which only a short head kept her out of the first four.
Corby said: “Mick has always held this filly in the esteem of Flashy Wings since we started her off in early March. She was second in the maiden at the Craven meeting which is always a good guide and then had a problem.
“But we nursed her back - in hindsight the enforced break could have done her a favour - and she won a small race with her head in her chest before we opted to run her in the Cheveley Park.”
It seems that as if she has continued to thrive at a time when fillies can often go over the top for the season. Corby points to a nearby gleaming window and remarks that Missit’s coat has a similar sheen to it.
“She has not done much since the Cheveley Park - she hasn’t needed to - but she had a spin on Monday morning and that was good.
“She is going seven furlongs for the first time on Saturday but she is out of a Shirley Heights mare so I’m hoping the extra distance will be in her favour. I hope she has an each-way chance.”
