RAVEN’S Pass will have a racecourse spin in Newmarket on Sunday October 14 ahead of his anticipated shot at next Saturday’s Darley Dewhurst Stakes.
The Elusive Quality colt, 11-2 co-second favourite with the sponsors for next year’s Stan James 2000 Guineas, is expected in the NatWest Rowley Mile pre-parade ring at 7.30a.m.
Trainer John Gosden will then work his charge over six furlongs on the track in company with a galloping companion.
Raven’s Pass is currently unbeaten after three runs. His latest success arrived at Sandown last month when he bolted up by seven lengths in the Group 3 Solario Stakes.
Michael Prosser, director of racing at Newmarket, has also provided the latest bulletin on the ground of next week’s two-day meeting which culminates with next Saturday’s outstanding Champions’ Day card.
Prosser said: “We are due rain on Tuesday and then expect to be dry for the remainder of the week. On that basis I would predict good ground for Champions’ Day
“If we don’t get all the forecast rain on Tuesday, then it could be that we’ll be racing on a surface that is on the quicker side of good. Either way, the track will be in fantastic shape and we will be racing on the stands’ side on ground that hasn’t been used since May.”
