England vs Australia to be shown on the big screen
Friday 5th October, 2007
Rugby fans can enjoy uninterrupted coverage of the Rugby World Cup quarter-final clash between England and Australia on a big screen on the Hyperion Lawn (accessible to Premier Enclosure and Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure racegoers) on totesport.com Cambridgeshire Day at Newmarket tomorrow (Saturday). Kick-off is at 2pm.
Smaller televisions inside the Greene King marquee on the Hyperion Lawn will show the Manchester United vs Wigan game in the Premiership which kicks off at 12.45pm.
"We think it is important to give sports fans the opportunity to see the big events from elsewhere on the NatWest Rowley Mile, so the rugby will be shown uninterrupted on the big screen, with a split screen employed from when the runners are loading for a Newmarket race," said Lisa Hancock, Managing Director of Newmarket Racecourses.
"We will also be ensuring that the big races from Longchamp and Redcar are shown on our closed circuit TVs across the racecourse whenever possible, obviously as long as they don't clash with our own races."
