TRAINER GER Lyons has issued an upbeat bulletin about Elletelle ahead of his star charge’s shot at the skybet.com Cheveley Park Stakes on Friday.

Connections are hoping the Queen Mary winner can cap a fine season with success in the six-furlong Group 1 on the NatWest Rowley Mile course.

Her last assignment was also at the top level and she finished a credible third to Saoirse Abu in the National Stakes at The Curragh in August on unsuitable soft ground.

Irish handler Lyons said: “Elletelle is in superb order. Her weight is up 20 kilos so she’s in top shape and the faster the ground the better. I’m just delighted to have her and wouldn’t swap her for anything in the world.

“She is a very straightforward filly and owes me nothing. We see her as a Guineas filly and that is why we have given her a light season. She must have a great each-way chance on Friday.”

A 14-strong field is due to go to post for the race in which the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Visit is likely to start favourite.

Other intriguing runners include Flying Childers winner Fleeting Spirit, Prix Morny second Natagora and another Irish raider Perfect Polly.

Trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam saddles Polar Circle, a Listed winner at the trip over on the July Course earlier in the summer.

He said: “Polar Circle has been working really nicely and we’ve decided to take our chance in the Cheveley Park Stakes.

“It is going to be very tough for her and she needs to have improved to be competitive but she is in great form. Also, we’ve nowhere else to go so we may as well give it a shot.”

Newmarket’s three day meeting begins tomorrow - Thursday, October 4 - at 2pm. The day’s feature races are the G4S Rous Stakes and the Grove Farm Stud Noel Murless Stakes,
