SIMPLY Perfect lived up to her name this afternoon as she raced to the second Group 1 victory of her career when taking the UAE Hydra Properties Falmouth Stakes.

The Jeremy Noseda-trained filly lit up the first day of the Ritz Club July Festival as she came home with a length to spare from Irridescence.

Her win was a triumph for jockey Johnny Murtagh, who made all on the Danehill filly. Murtagh dictated the tempo superbly, slowing the contest up before kicking again on Noseda’s three-year-old charge, who beat her elders.

The winning trainer, who has a great record on the July Course, said: “She is a tough filly and that was a great performance by her.

“Johnny had a plan - he thought it would suit her to make the running. He has ridden her on both her previous starts this season and you have to listen to your jockey. It was a beautiful ride.”

You’resothrilling shaped like a star of the future as she won the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes by a length from Festoso. The full sister to the top-class Giant’s Causeway showed a good turn of foot to come from off the pace to score in the Group 2 for jockey Michal Kinane and trainer Aidan O’Brien.

The Storm Cat filly went one better than in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot where she endured a troubled passage and is now as short as 10-1 for next year’s Stan James 1000 Guineas.

Kinane said: “She has a lovely temperament - nothing bothers her. She is like her brother in that she is tough.”

The other Group race on the card - the H.B.L.B Lancashire Oaks - rescheduled after Haydock was abandoned last Saturday - saw Turbo Lin bolting up by four lengths.

But victorious trainer Alan Swinbank revealed that he only just managed to submit his entry in time for the Group 2.

He said: “I put the entry in for her at two minutes to twelve after she worked very well with Alfie Flits on Saturday morning.”

Trainer John Dunlop recorded a double on a cracking opening day of the fixture with Tarteel (The Racing Post Bloodstock EBF Fillies’ handicap) and Shmookh (totesport.com heritage handicap) on target.

The other winners on Classic FM day were Rio De La Plata (Ian Macnicol Memorial Strutt & Parker EBF maiden), Urban Spirit (Racing Post maiden) and Third Set (Classic FM handicap).

The meeting continues tomorrow (July 12) with another fascinating looking card to look forward to.
