‘Professional’ Green Oasis to cope with class rise - O’Neill

Sunday 8th July, 2007

EOGHAN O’Neill is looking forward to sending out Green Oasis for a tilt at the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket on Wednesday July 11.

The daughter of Green Desert was a smart winner of a six-furlong maiden 10 days ago at Wolverhampton on her only start.

Trainer O’Neill recognises that it is a significant rise in grade moving up to Group 2 company but feels he has a filly capable of handling it.

He said: “She won as expected first time and is a very professional, good filly.

“It doesn’t bother me where they win their maiden. I take them to the easiest place I can find to win, which she did - she never came off the bridle.

“She has always worked well and is worthy of a step up. I think she will cope with the better class.

“She doesn’t want fast ground. It will be perfect for her if it is good ground.”
