Michael Prosser - 'Sensational opening day of Ritz Club July Festival''
RACEGOERS attending the opening day of the 2007 Ritz Club July Festival are in for an extra treat as the Lancashire Oaks has been switched to the July Course as a result of Haydock having to abandon this Saturday’s fixture.
Newmarket will now stage the reopened 12f Group 2 for fillies and mares aged three-years-old and upwards at 3.45pm on Wednesday, July 11.
The race further enhances a terrific card, highlighted by the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes and well supported by the Group 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes.
"We are delighted to be staging the Lancashire Oaks on the opening Day of a sensational Ritz Club July Festival," said Michael Prosser, Newmarket's Director of Racing. "We now have a Group 1 and two Group 2's on Wednesday, all for fillies and mares - I suspect that may be a first in racing.
"With Lester Piggott and Frankie Dettori officially opening the redeveloped July Course at 12 noon, we have a truly exceptional afternoon in store for our racegoers on Wednesday."
