Prosser relishes upcoming Stan James Guineas Festival

NEWMARKET’S clerk of the course and director of racing Michael Prosser is eagerly anticipating the Stan James 2000 Guineas and the Stan James 1000 Guineas - details of the forfeit stage for both races having been released today.
The Jim Bolger-trained Teofilo, unbeaten in five starts as a two-year-old, heads the 38 entries for the 2000 Guineas, due to be staged at Newmarket‘s NatWest Rowley Mile course on Saturday, May 5.
Stable-mate Finsceal Beo, already a Group 1 and Group 2 winner, is at the forefront of 32 fillies going forward for the 1000 Guineas, scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 6.
Prosser said: “The Stan James Guineas Festival promises to be a fantastic weekend of top-class Flat racing with one big question to be answered - can trainer Jim Bolger and jockey Kevin Manning follow in the footsteps of Aidan O'Brien and Kieren Fallon two years ago and win both classics in the same season?
"Teofilo and Finsceal Beo both looked exceptional last season and I cannot wait to see them scorching up the famous turf on the NatWest Rowley Mile on May 5 and 6. If they run to form, one suspects it’s going to take a performance of a great champion to lower either of their colours."
