Nannina on course for Lockinge Return
Tuesday 17th April, 2007

TRAINER John Gosden has pointed the way to next month’s Lockinge Stakes as the starting point for Nannina’s four-year-old campaign.
Speaking to www.newmarketracecourses.co.uk, Gosden revealed that he is pleased with how the daughter of Medicean has wintered and is hoping she can add to the Group 1s she landed at two and three.
She proved top-class last summer when adding the Coronation Stakes’ triumph to a C.V that already included a Fillies’ Mile success gained at Newmarket in 2005.
Now connections are targeting another major prize with Nannina being prepared for the Group 1at Newbury on May 19.
Newmarket-based trainer Gosden confirmed: “We will start her out in the Lockinge - there are not many places to go with Group 1 winners before that.
“It is a nice place for her to start and then you can point into Royal Ascot. There is the Group 2 Windsor Forest there or we could have a look at the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes. After that, you’ve got the Falmouth, the Nassau - those sort of races.
“She is in good form and has done well through the winter. It would be fantastic if she were able to win a Group 1 at two, three and four.”
